John R. Mulvihill
John R. Mulvihill is president and chief executive officer of The Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company of Canada (HSB BI&I). He is also a member of HSB BI&I’s board of directors.
Mr. Mulvihill joined HSB BI&I in 1990 in Toronto. Following an assignment in Montreal from 1992 to 1995, he was appointed director of technical operations. He was appointed assistant vice president in 1997, vice president in 2000 and corporate secretary in 2004. He has held various executive management roles, including responsibility for engineering, claims, inspection and most recently special risks and strategic planning.
Previous to joining HSB BI&I, Mr. Mulvihill worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia, Dofasco and a mining consulting company.
Mr. Mulvihill holds both a master’s of business administration and engineering degrees from the University of Toronto. He is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors - Directors Education Program. He is a member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers and is a Chartered Insurance Professional. Mr. Mulvihill served on the Industry Advisory Council to the Ontario “Technical Standards and Safety Authority” from 1998 to 2006. He has volunteered at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management – Integrative Management Challenge from 2004 to 2006 as well as with their mentorship program.
