Ireland: Lifting equipment inspection
Regulations
properties.trackTitle
properties.trackSubtitle
Many types of businesses and organisations utilise various types of lifting equipment which can often be in regular use, with varying loadings and duty cycles. Lifting equipment might include passenger/goods lifts, escalators, cranes, electric chain blocks, hoists, fork-lift trucks, and mobile elevating work platforms; to name a few.
Ireland's SI No. 299 of 2007 Regulations and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 place duties on people and companies who own, operate, or have control over lifting equipment.
A wide range of lifting equipment is covered by SI No. 299 of 2007 Regulations; which also covers lifting tackle and accessories (for example, chains, slings, eye bolts, etc).
A requirement of the Regulations is that, in many cases, equipment used for lifting is subject to statutory, periodic 'thorough examination' by a 'Competent Person'.
What is a 'Competent Person'?
