For eligible employees, we offer exam registration reimbursement, study hours, bonuses and salary increases for passing actuarial exams and for achieving an Actuarial designation. Eligibility for the program is determined by Human Resources and is open only to those who demonstrate a serious commitment to this professional designation and who are engaged in actuarial work for us.

    We seek students who are dedicated to stretching their capabilities and realizing their potential. We are looking for well-rounded, energetic, and talented students who possess the following criteria:

    • Registered in a Co-op or Internship program at a University, as well as recent graduates who have obtained their degree within the past year
    • Majoring in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, economics, accounting, finance, business administration, human resources or related field
    • Participation in extracurricular activities
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities
    • Excellent communications skills; both verbal and written
    • Interest and willingness to learn a variety of new information at a fast pace

    Recruiting timetable
    Co-op opportunities are typically posted four months in advance of the work term (i.e. Summer work term roles are posted in January). In addition to our Career Site, we also post our roles with a number of Universities through Canada. We have a limited number of roles each term in Actuarial Science, Accounting and at times, Human Resources for each term; Winter, Summer, Fall.

    Getting to know our student talent in a new way
    *In these unprecedented circumstances, we are adapting our approach to meeting our student talent from in person to a virtual format. Any information or recruitment sessions will be conducted over our digital platforms.

    Each year we have a limited number of full time Actuarial positions available for graduating students. These positions provide an excellent opportunity for students looking to launch their career in a competitive and fast paced industry.     Eligibility and criteria 
    For our 2018 New Graduate hiring cycle, students must be completing an Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics degree program, intending to graduate in August 2017, December 2017 or April 2018. Individuals having graduated before these dates should review our current positions available within Professional Opportunities. In addition, we generally look for the following qualifications:

    • Recent ASA or progressing towards attainment of ASA
    • 0-3 years experience in the Canadian Life and Health insurance/reinsurance industry (Co-op terms and internships included)
    • Participation in extracurricular activities
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities
    • Excellent communications skills; both verbal and written
    • Interest and willingness to learn a variety of new information at a fast pace.

    Recruiting timetable
    Our new graduate recruitment cycle takes place in the Fall of each year, with available positions posted on our Careers page in August. We conduct a round of on-campus interviews throughout September, and invite a select number of candidates to an on-site interview in our Toronto office.* Final offers are usually presented in late September or early October. Successful candidates would then begin their role with us throughout the following year.
