Specialized claim experience with value

Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB) has long been recognized as the leader in the adjustment of equipment breakdown claims. As the scope of our coverages have extended to now include many types of specialty insurance, so too has our claims expertise.

HSB continues to broaden its claims services to address newer risks to businesses such as solar energy, cyber attacks, data breaches, and employment practices liability. We also provide claims services for personal lines products designed for homeowners such as Home Systems Protection and Identity Recovery insurance. The ongoing involvement by HSB Claims in the development of those expanded product offerings puts us in a strong position to understand insureds’ needs with the coverage being provided, and to then develop claim practices and expertise to properly adjust losses.

Our goal in HSB Claims remains simple - to put the insured back in the position they were in before the loss and help prevent further impacts. To meet that goal and serve the interest of our client company insurance companies, HSB Claims relies on its Claims Value Proposition, which is based on the following principles:

Customer Service – protecting our client insurance company market reputation and customer relationships by:

  • Timely contact with insureds upon claim notice and assignment
  • Compliance with set claims service guidelines that meet or exceed client company guidelines
  • Regular updates to client company adjusters of claim status
  • Monthly or quarterly statements of overall claims activity per client company specification

Relationship Management – fostering long term partnerships and reinforcing client company values via:

  • Designated claims services managers for client insurance companies
  • Serving as key point of contact for customer interactions
  • Escalation of service issues to ensure timely resolution
  • Focus on building and maintaining customer relationships that lead to growth and retention

Claims Expertise – enhancing the client insurance company’s brand through:

  • Claims management standards intended to deliver accurate coverage decisions and fair damage assessments
  • Value-added services such as training and ongoing consultations with client company adjusters
  • Segmentation of claims to properly align adjuster skill sets with level of complexity
  • Dedicated Large Loss Unit comprised of adjusters with numerous years of experience
