International Women in Engineering Day 2022

International Women in Engineering Day 2022

23 June

As part of the global awareness campaign, which raises the profile of women in engineering and recognises the exciting career opportunities available to women in our industry, members of our engineering teams provide their views on their careers in engineering.

Paula Homan, HSB
It is possible to transition into engineering management roles using transferable business skills in projects and change, just as I did! I hope my own experience will encourage women to kickstart a career in engineering - an industry in which women are not always sufficiently represented - or to have the confidence to make the same step change I did.

From working in the office at HSB, to going to college on day release and completing my HNC in Mechanical Engineering, to working as a HSB Engineer Surveyor, and now as Technical Training and Compliance Manager, I’d encourage any women to choose a career in the engineering industry.
