Emanuel Seitz (born 1973 in Dingolfing) already devoted himself to painting during his studies with Günter Förg at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. Driven by an interest in exploring the process of painting, the artist mixes his own colours, experimenting with pigments to expand the colour spectrum and work the form out of the colour with the greatest possible effect.
His works on paper are mostly small-format. They appear intimate, some fragile and delicate, others powerful and dynamic. As if from a coloured primordial sludge, streaks form into amorphous formations, which here and there are reminiscent of landscapes. One also encounters geometric forms that are accurately placed or playfully dance through the pictorial space.
Emanuel Seitz shapes with colour. His pictures between abstraction and figuration address the viewer’s imagination, the inner eye, and thus man’s very own ability to associate, to form, and to create something new.
Emanuel Seitz’s works are represented in important collections, such as the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus and the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.
