Great Lakes UK becomes a Societas Europaea

Great Lakes has changed its legal form from a Public Limited Company (PLC) to a Societas Europaea (SE). On 28 July 2015, the company was registered as Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) SE.
Munich. The change in legal form will not have any implications for clients. The company continues to be responsible for all of its existing policies and the claims management. Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) SE retains all of its current licenses, maintaining its ability to write insurance business in the European Economic Area, the United States and the rest of the world. It continues to enjoy the strong rating of Munich Re (Group): rated as A+ (Superior) by A. M. Best, and AA- (Very strong) by S&P.
This change is part of the preparation for the relocation of the headquarters of Great Lakes UK to Munich at the beginning of 2017. The new structure of Great Lakes will support the development of existing and new business. Synergies and knowledge transfer within all units of Munich Re will support Great Lakes’ branches worldwide.
