Understanding Non-peak NatCat Perils
Climate change and the shifting risk landscape
Climate / Online seminar
Save the Date
General description
This seminar explores the evolving nature of non-peak natural catastrophe perils – such as severe convective storms (SCS), floods, and wildfires – and the growing importance of understanding these risks in the context of climate change and exposure growth. Participants will be introduced to the latest scientific findings and observed loss trends, and will learn how Munich Re is incorporating these changes into its modelling approach.
Contents
- SCS: Rising risks due to climate change, exposure growth, and how we cover them in our SCS Models
- Flood: The diverse effects of climate change on flood trends and how we cover them in our Flood Models
- Wildfire: Lessons learnt from recent major catastrophes and how we integrate them into our Wildfire Models
- Modelling strategy: How we integrate scientific research, historical data, and forward-looking scenarios into our non-peak peril models, incl. an overview of model updates
