Frank Stürmer (*1972) does not photograph objects, but situations – those moments of everyday life that at first glance seem rather trivial. His photographic expeditions take the artist through the busy streets of international cities as well as through magnificent gardens and remote landscapes.
For his three photographs of flowering shrubs, Stürmer does not choose the intense light of day, but rather the so-called blue hour. It is the short time between sunset and nightfall or between night and sunrise, when the deep blue color of the sky lends the motifs an almost mystical atmosphere. Although Frank Stürmer adds the Latin name of the plant in the title, he is not interested in scientific documentation. His works, which are not digitally processed, are much more an homage to the beauty and sublimity of nature with all its mysterious, enchanting, magical moments – here  photographed in the garden of the Benediktbeuern monastery after sunset.

For Munich Re, Frank Stürmer created the nine-part photo installation La Mortella in the outdoor area of Café Berlin in the business premises on Berliner Straße.
