On your first day with Munich Re Life US, we want to ensure that every new colleague has a warm welcome. Like many companies, Munich Re quickly adapted to a virtual work environment. While your first day with us will likely be virtual, we will do our absolute best to ensure your onboarding experience is seamless. As we implement our Together@Work plan, we will keep you up to date with any procedures and policy changes.

During your first week, we’ll focus on making sure you have everything you need to get up to speed in your new role and settle in comfortably. You can expect your manager to set up a series of one-on-one meetings with you to review your job responsibilities, work expectations and professional goals. Our Human Resources partners will provide you with a complete overview of the services and benefits available to you, as well as general policies and procedures. You may be partnered with a peer to act as a friendly and accessible resource during your transition, or participate in training and development workshops.
Your first 90 days at Munich Re are vital in your transition from new hire to an experienced employee. It's essential that we lay the foundation by creating an atmosphere of continuous interactions that maximize your skillset and showcase your value to the company. You will be introduced to Continuous Conversations, a global practice that replaces the traditional performance management process with increased communication on Commitment, Feedback, and Development. As performance happens every day, Continuous Conversations aligns to recognize the fast-paced changes in the workplace. You will meet with your manager frequently to discuss your commitments and how they align with your team’s and the company's broader goals, opportunities for growth and development, and have constant feedback exchanges acknowledging where you stand at any given moment. You will have access to a variety of resources to support your needs.

After getting off to a good start, your journey doesn’t end after the first 90 days. As you continue in your transition, you can look forward to a culture of respect, teamwork, and trust. Having identified short-term and long-term commitments with your manager, you will have clearly defined expectations of your contributions to Munich Re. And because learning never stops, you will always have an opportunity to take advantage of the many professional development and learning programs we have to offer. As you leverage your capabilities, you can also expect recognition and celebration for your achievements.

What You Should Do

There are a number of important forms for you to review and complete when joining a new organization. To make this process smoother, we’ve made them digital and enabled electronic signatures for the majority of our documents. This format allows you to review, sign and submit your required documentation from the comfort of your home, and ensure all of your paperwork is completed on a timely basis.

Important Forms

There are a number of important forms for you to review and complete prior to your first day. This can be done using our electronic signature service, which is secure and SSL encrypted to ensure your information remains completely confidential. Once completed, your signed forms are sent directly to HR to begin your setup.

Our company policy is “dress for your day”.  For example, if you’re working at the office with just your colleagues, jeans may be appropriate. However, if you’re attending a client meeting, professional business attire would be necessary. Regardless of your day, Munich Re Life US expects all employees to maintain a professional image at our client’s offices and our own.
All of our offices have a receptionist available between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Your daily schedule will be determined by you and your manager once you start.
Yes, an access card is required for entrance into our office spaces and will be provided to you on your first day.
We do not have a cafeteria in any of our office buildings. However, you are welcome to bring your own lunch as kitchen facilities are available. If you wish to buy lunch, there are many restaurants and fast food places located nearby, including a service that delivers to the office. Coffee, tea and water are available to employees for free.
Your first paycheck will be directly deposited into your bank account unless you have opted to receive a paper check.
