Solarkiosk opened in Kenya – Another milestone of the “Tackling climate change together” initiative

The joint initiative “Tackling climate change together” by Munich Re and ERGO has reached another milestone in cooperation with our partner SOLARKIOSK. The first initiative-financed E-HUBB, a photovoltaic kiosk, has started operations in Migori County in Kenya. E-HUBBs provide electricity independent of the power grid, thus replacing the usual diesel-powered generators and their harmful emissions. The electricity generated allows people to power their fridges, recharge their phones, use the internet and – thanks to the E-HUBB’s powerful storage capacity – even do their school homework by electric light after dark. Another four E-HUBBs are set to be installed in the coming weeks.
