Walter Voigts-von Forster to lead Munich Re Africa Branch

Munich Re today announces the appointment of Walter Voigts-von Forster as Chief Executive Officer, Munich Re Africa Branch. Voigts-von Forster will continue to be Head of Non-Life for Munich Re Africa in addition to his CEO responsibility. This appointment is effective from 1 February 2026 and is subject to regulatory approval. He will report to Roland Eckl, Chief Executive, Munich Re Australasia, Greater China, MENA, Africa.
Walter Voigts-von Forster will succeed Nico Conradie, currently Chief Executive Officer, Munich Re Africa Branch, who has decided to retire at the end of January 2026. Munich Re thanks Nico Conradie for his dedication to the Company over the past 23 years, during which he led Munich Re’s Africa business as CEO from 2016.

Walter Voigts-von Forster has more than 18 years of extensive experience in reinsurance. He joined Munich Re in 2007 and held various positions including Head of Aviation Treaty based in Munich. He was appointed Head of Non-Life for Munich Re Africa in 2022. He obtained a Diploma in Mathematics in 2004 from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU).
