Munich Re has experienced an evolution in the needs of the insurance and reinsurance market. Risks are becoming increasingly complex and new ones continuously emerge. Munich Re aims to place greater emphasis on its extensive know how, so as to develop individual solutions for its clients, as a response to complex requirements. Financial stability paired with an attentive focus on the future form the basis of our work.

Three key business models have clearly established in the reinsurance market: 1. the complete provision of multiple reinsurance solutions, including consulting and services, 2. the simple provision of capacity and 3. risk transfer to the capital market. Thanks to a deep knowledge of risk, high level of expertise in risk modelling and experience in risk management, which has enabled the company to successfully cope with the financial crisis, Munich Re undoubtedly operates according to the first model, being a complete provider of risk-taking and risk-transfer services. Our goal is thus to be our clients’ preferred point of reference for any risk-related issues and all matters requiring specific expertise.

We also intend to expand relations and address new groups of clients, or “risk sponsors”, to be identified within a context of public-private partnerships, as well as insurance companies specialising in niche segments, for which specific expertise in risk is a key factor in achieving success.

Of course, traditional reinsurance is our core business and this won’t change, but we want to make the most of our know-how. We aim to be the first name our clients and business partners turn to when they need to resolve complex underwriting issues.

We focus on topics including: balance-sheet management, coverage of complex risks and new risk areas to insure. We therefore aim at redefining our strategic position more precisely: an essential element of which is to guarantee our clients individual, holistic reinsurance solutions. This means that we intend to provide a more specialized consulting service than in the past with a focus on risk management, risk modelling and asset-liability management. The Client management service has been reorganized with this in mind.

The staff at Munich Re, Italy is readily available to collaborate on finding solutions to satisfy any business need.
