Re|examine the potential of market insights

The pandemic introduced significant challenges for businesses and generated unprecedented uncertainty for the future. We understand the value of proactively monitoring market trends and key drivers to position our clients for success. In our Spring symposium, we highlighted the impacts of the pandemic on the Canadian LTD experience and industry expectations in the future for incidence and termination rates.

We shifted focus in a series of Fall sessions to LTD experience rating methodologies, performance indicators such as approval and denial rates, and case manager turnover and retention.

LTD Experience Rating in the Current Market

This session examined the impacts of different rating approaches and offered participating companies an opportunity to reflect on their own practices in response to the current market environment.

The Impact of Case Manager Turnover on LTD Claims This session explored how turnover rates have changed in the last 12-18 months, proactive measures to talent retention, and factors that drive high turnover. We also conisdered hiring practices, and measures insurers can take to mitigate the potential impact on lost productivity and business performance.
Understanding STD and LTD Experience Through an Operational Lens This session showcased the latest STD and LTD Claims Industry Survey results, providing a critical overview of performance indicators defining the claims experience. Munich Re thought leaders provided observations, and answered questions regarding the management of caseloads, approval/denial rates, LTD litigated claims, rehabilitation activities, and more.
