Peter Macdonald is the Chief Claims Officer for Munich Re Specialty – North America.  Pete has led casualty claims organizations in different roles for the last 20 years.  Prior to joining Munich is May 2024, he was the head of casualty claims at a major carrier, where his accountabilities included general liability, commercial auto, excess, complex coverage, construction defect, and workers’ compensation.  In his career, he’s worked to build high-performing, outcome-focused teams that have strong partnerships with their businesses. 

Pete is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law.  He lives in West Hartford, Connecticut with his wife, with whom he has two sons and a daughter. 

Pete is on the Board of Directors of Kids Chance of Connecticut, which provides scholarship assistance to children of people injured in workplace accidents.  He’s also on the Board of Directors of The Bridge, a Hartford-area organization that provides a variety of counseling, residential, and similar services for families and children in crisis.
