    Identity Recovery coverage combines identity theft insurance with services that help victims restore their credit history and identity records to pre-theft status.

    HSB offers this program through other property-casualty insurers whom we reinsure and service. It’s designed to be bundled within homeowners insurance products.

    Identity recovery services

    Most identity theft victims report the greatest cost of identity theft is the frustrating and time-consuming process to repair their credit history and identity records. HSB’s program includes identity recovery services that lift much of the burden from victims’ shoulders.

    Identity theft help line

    With HSB’s identity recovery services, victims of identity thieves begin the recovery process by calling a toll-free help line to talk to identity theft counselors who can answer their questions and provide them with a guide on what to do and how to request case manager service.

    Case manager service

    Typically, it’s very difficult for individuals to reach or work with the correct persons in credit monitoring bureaus, financial institutions, and at creditors, including credit card companies. Confirmed identity theft claimants are referred to a case manager who can provide professional assistance and guide them through the process to correct their credit history or identity records.

    Expense Reimbursement coverage

    Expense Reimbursement coverage pays victims for the costs they incur for the steps they take themselves to resolve their identity theft problems.

    Covered expenses include the following:

    • Lost wages resulting from time away from work (applicable to homeowner accounts)
    • Child and elder care costs
    • Credit bureau reports
    • Fees when reapplying for loans initially declined due to falsified credit information
    • Postage, phone, and shipping fees
    • Certain legal fees caused by identity theft
    • Other miscellaneous costs
    • Notary and filing fees
