Give Kids The World Village (GKTWV) Charity Receives a 2010 Honda Civic Hybrid as Munich Re Helps Build Strong Communities

Princeton, New Jersey, 9 June 2010 – Munich Re is an active participant in helping to build stronger communities. On June 8th, Munich Re presented a 2010 Honda Civic Hybrid to Give Kids The World Village (GKTWV) at the Public Risk Insurance Management (PRIMA) annual conference in Orlando, FL.

In every state, local charities play a vital role in connecting government, individuals, and businesses to create a positive impact on the community as a whole. During the 2010 Public Risk Insurance Management (PRIMA) annual conference, Munich Re embraced their mission by contributing to three deserving local charities that were suggested by the Central Florida Chapter of PRIMA.

Munich Re pledged to give the most popular charity at the event a 2010 Honda Civic Hybrid purchased from Classic Honda in Orlando, while the remaining two would receive cash donations. PRIMA conference attendees were invited to vote from amongst the three charities to decide the charity they felt was most deserving of the car. Give Children The World Village was selected to receive the 2010 Honda Civic Hybrid donated by Munich Re. Opened in 1989, the 70-acre, non-profit “storybook” resort located near Central Florida’s most beloved attractions, provides children with life-threatening illnesses and their families a memorable, magical, cost-free experience. Give Kids The World has welcomed more than 100,000 families from all 50 states and over 70 countries.

Wayne Olson, Director of Development for Give Kids the World Village accepted the keys from Greg Lang, SVP of Munich Re’s Specialty Insurance Division. Olson thanked Munich Re and stated, “We plan to keep the vehicle and make it available for children and their families while visiting the Village.”

The other two charities received a $1,000 donation from Munich Re. They included Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Inc., which strives to prevent delinquency and develop strong, lawful, and productive citizens who will make a positive contribution to our communities for years to come, and Seniors First, Inc., which enhances the quality of life for Central Florida seniors and disabled adults by maintaining their independence and dignity through nutrition, home improvement and support services.
