Building momentum in Frankfurt
One year ago, Munich Re Specialty took an important step in its European growth journey by establishing a presence in Germany, one of the continent's largest and most sophisticated specialty insurance markets. Since placing our first risks in late 2025, we have focused on building strong relationships, understanding local market needs and delivering specialist underwriting expertise backed by the global strength of Munich Re Specialty.
Over the past year, we have successfully established ourselves in the market across Commercial Lines, providing Property and Construction & Engineering solutions on a follow basis, while launching with lead underwriting capabilities in Surety from day one. At the same time, we have continued our longstanding success in Crisis Management through our MGA, Hansekuranz, where we have been supporting clients across Europe for many years.
Most importantly, we have had the opportunity to engage with key brokers, clients and strategic business partners across Germany. The reception has been overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing our belief in the opportunities ahead and the value of combining local market presence with global expertise.
Germany is a strategically important market for Munich Re Specialty and a key part of our European growth ambitions. Over the past year, we have built strong foundations, developed valuable partnerships and demonstrated the strength of our specialist underwriting approach. We are grateful for the support we have received from the market and excited about what comes next.
A milestone worth celebrating
To mark our first year in Germany, we welcomed our brokers partners and colleagues to Frankfurt for an evening of reflection, appreciation and optimism for the future.
The reception provided an opportunity to celebrate the relationships, achievements and momentum established during our first year, while sharing our ambitions for the next phase of growth.

Our first year in Germany has reinforced the importance of our measured, long-term approach: building strong market relationships, delivering specialist expertise and expanding thoughtfully in line with client and broker needs.
As we look to the future, our focus is on deepening our presence in Germany, continuing to invest in our capabilities and strengthening the partnerships that will support our long-term growth. An important milestone on that journey will be our planned move towards lead positions in Property and Construction & Engineering in 2027, further enhancing the solutions we can offer the market.
As we enter year two, our ambition is clear: to build on the foundations established in our first year and continue growing as a trusted specialty insurance partner in Germany.
