David Pivato

David is Vice President and Corporate Secretary of HSB Canada, responsible for Underwriting and Reinsurance Risk Management.

David joined HSB Canada in August of 1991 as a Claims Adjuster in the Head Office. Following nearly five years in Claims, David joined the Toronto Branch Marketing team. In 1998, David assumed the position of Underwriter in the Head Office Underwriting Department and held positions of increasing responsibility over the years, becoming Director of Underwriting in 2010. The Board of Directors appointed David Assistant Vice President of Underwriting in 2011, Vice President in 2014, and Vice President and Corporate Secretary in 2018. In 2021 David assumed responsibility for the Data and Analytics Office focusing on fostering a data-driven culture and the use of analytics for product development and refinement.

David is an involved member of the HSB Group Global Underwriting Committee, the Canadian Boiler and Machinery Underwriters Association (CBMUA), and the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC). David is a Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto. He is a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) and holds a Canadian Risk Management designation.
