The survey, conducted by the Insurance Business UK (IBUK) research team over a 15-week period, included one-on-one interviews with specialist brokers and gathered feedback from the publications broker network. This process allowed Insurance Business UK to gain a keen understanding of what insurance professionals think of current marketing offerings.

Brokers were quizzed on what features they thought were most important in a cyber insurance policy and then asked how insurers they dealt with rated on those attributes. The measures included strength of relationships, claims handling, underwriting expertise and the strength of products provided.
