Angela Bulloch’s large-format installations are based on “pixel boxes”. The Canadian artist enlarges the tiny dots of our digitised image worlds into luminescent coloured cubes, which she uses as modular design elements.

Bulloch’s TV Tower and Tube System 8:4 installation, which she designed for one of the underground passages at Munich Re, has two parts. A tower of 32 pixel boxes in the centre of the passage marks the rotunda, which is open at the top and extends over several floors. And along both sides of the wall next to the floor, coloured, segmented light bands emit a flow of soft illumination. Via sensors, the installation reacts to the movement of passers-by and accompanies them on their way.
