Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation Names Munich Re’s John Vasturia as Chairman of Board of Governors

New York (March 3, 2016)

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) has named John Vasturia, President of Specialty Markets for Munich Reinsurance America, Inc., as Chairman for IICF’s Board of Governors. Mr. Vasturia steps into the leadership position following three years of service as a member on the Board of Governors.

Comprised of 21 senior insurance industry executives from across the United States and London, United Kingdom, IICF’s Board of Governors is responsible for managing the organization’s growth and foundation fund, as well as ensuring the organization brings the greatest value to the community and industry. In his role as Chairman, Mr. Vasturia will oversee the board’s work to establish overarching strategy throughout the IICF’s international footprint, which includes four regional divisions in the U.S. as well as the organization’s London Division, which was launched in 2015.

“As IICF expands its reach both into local communities throughout the U.S. as well as to new geographies abroad, we are excited to welcome Mr. Vasturia’s leadership and vision for growth,” said Bill Ross, CEO of IICF. “Mr. Vasturia has long been a champion of the industry’s commitment to philanthropy and we will be well-served by his tireless devotion to help communities and enrich lives.”

“IICF’s Mission exemplifies the tremendous opportunity we have to help communities and enrich lives by combining the collective strengths of our industry,” Vasturia said. “Together, we can make a bigger and more positive impact by being strategic and collaborative in our efforts to help others. I am inspired to be working with such a high quality and dedicated IICF staff, as well as so many engaged volunteers.”

Currently serving as President of Munich Reinsurance America, Inc.’s Specialty Markets, Mr. Vasturia is also a member of the company’s U.S. P&C Executive Board. He has been with Munich Re since 1989 and has held several roles within the organization, including Head of New Strategic Markets and President of Regional Clients Underwriting. He began his insurance career with Chubb Group in 1984.

Mr. Vasturia will succeed Gary Petrosino, Executive Vice President and Western U.S. Territory Field Officer, Chubb & Son, who served as Chairman since January 2014. “We are grateful for Gary’s leadership through the latest chapter of IICF’s history, which saw tremendous growth and impact generated for nonprofits across all the areas we serve,” said Ross.
