Munich Re Celebrates Five Years of Evidence-based Support with the EDGE Underwriting Manual

Washington, DC, April 27, 2015 – During the Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU) 14th Annual Conference, Munich American Reassurance Company celebrated the 5th anniversary of the EDGE underwriting manual by introducing key enhancements to its life and disability income (DI) manuals. The enhancements to the manuals include updates to the thyroid cancer, sleep apnea, and Crohn's disease sections.

Since its introduction five years ago, the EDGE underwriting manuals have provided evidence-based support on a multitude of impairments that underwriters encounter every day. EDGE covers all the major impairments, and supplements those with extensive reference articles to provide more in-depth knowledge for even the most seasoned underwriter. It also contains over a dozen easy-to-use calculators related to heart disease, certain cancers, liver function tests, and foreign travel.

"We're excited to be celebrating the fifth anniversary of the introduction of EDGE, our underwriting manual," says Bill Moore, Vice President, Underwriting and Medical Services, Munich American Reassurance Company. "The most recent enhancements are another example of our commitment to providing our clients with relevant and thoroughly researched updates on a variety of impairments to aid in the risk assessment process."

Other changes to the EDGE life underwriting manual include updates to its hematuria section and CAD suspected calculator, and the disability underwriting manual introduces updates to its psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, proteinuria/microalbuminuria, and Long QT syndrome sections.
