The most exciting project I’ve worked on so far has been pricing a reinsurance quote for a client – I was given the responsibility and freedom to make subjective decisions and felt supported and respected by my colleagues throughout.

The graduate programme helped me build a strong foundation across both technical and commercial areas and – with the support of mentors and sponsors – gave me the confidence to step outside my comfort zone. It taught me to take initiative, stay curious, and build strong relationships – lessons that continue to guide how I contribute to the business and support the people I work with.

    FAQ

    1. Is this a graduate programme or a permanent position? We cannot guarantee a permanent position for all graduates. If you are offered a role within UKLB, it will be a permanent position, whereas roles within GLLB are offered on a two-year basis, with the potential to apply for a subsequent permanent role.
    2. How many positions are available? There are 4–6 positions available across different entities in Munich Re UK.
    3. Do you offer visa sponsorship? Yes.
    4. How does this differ from the Group International Graduate Programme? This is a more specialised programme than the Group International Graduate Programme and is better tailored towards becoming a qualified actuary.
    5. Are there minimum grade requirements, and any subjects that wouldn’t be considered? We expect candidates to have, or be predicted to achieve, at least a 2:1 (or equivalent) in a numerate degree such as Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, STEM, Economics, Finance or a related discipline.
    6. Do I need to have exemptions from the actuarial exams? No. We provide full study support for all exams, regardless of the number of exemptions held. Additionally, there is no preference for students who do or don’t have exam exemptions.
    7. What level of study support is offered? We provide study leave to our students to prepare for their exams. We cover the cost of all subscription fees, course materials, tuition and examination fees, and provide a study mentor to advise and support you through the process. Students are entitled to up to one day of study leave per week, depending on which exams are being taken. Students are also given full days off for the day of any exams.
    8. Are there any international placements offered? Although they are uncommon for graduates, employees may be supported with international secondments, but this is not guaranteed and depends on an individual's performance, business needs, and the availability of opportunities.
    9. Is there any flexibility over the start date? Yes, we are willing to be flexible over your start date. Please discuss this with us.
    10. What are the working hours like, and how flexible are they? Employees typically work 7–8 hour days, such as 9–5 or 9–6 with an hour lunch break, with some flexibility. This can vary slightly depending on work volumes and deadlines. We operate a hybrid working model, combining office collaboration with remote work.
