Political Risk & credit

Munich Re Syndicate provides specialist credit and political risk insurance to help businesses protect themselves in an ever-changing political and economic landscape. Businesses are increasingly exposed to risks of government intervention, political violence, contract frustration and credit default in both emerging and developed markets through the economic cycle. The team at Munich Re Syndicate Limited has the specialist expertise to help clients understand and manage the risks they face by providing tailor-made solutions.

These capabilities, coupled with the financial strength of the Munich Re group, allow the team to meet the needs of our brokers and our diverse client base, which encompasses banks and financial institutions, exporters and importers, corporates, equity investors and public agencies.

Coverage available:

  • Non-payment insurance protects businesses against the risks of non-payment or non-performance by a state-owned or corporate counterparty
  • Political Risk insurance protects assets or financial investments against the risks of government intervention and political violence events. Perils covered include expropriation of assets, cancellation of operating licenses, forced abandonment of assets, currency inconvertibility, embargo, and political violence and war
