The Business Analyst, supports business units all over the world (incl. related market monitoring) dedicated to a specific field (e.g. Cyber Insurance, Business Interruption, Nature Catastrophes). He/She is responsible for safeguarding quality, scoping, effort/cost estimation and identifies needed requirements. Furthermore he/she ensures business needs are understood and serviced with appropriate IT solutions.

The Application Developer, responsible for the development of state of the art applications and systems needed to ensure full functionality for all IT services. Furthermore he/she is responsible for testing and maintenance of business specific applications and the configuration and adjustment of our needed software.

The Infrastructure Engineer, in charge of the set-up, support and control of all operational and development related IT infrastructure topics. He/ She is first in line to insure IT Infrastructure and its components is set-up for smooth infrastructure operation and support project activities. 

The Project Manager, in charge of full project life cycles of complex large scale projects. He/She ensures quality, time and budget objectives are met within projects and ensures customer-oriented and profitable implementation, compliant to internal IT guidelines. 

The Enterprise Architect, responsible for creating, iterating and maintaining the global IT landscapes, in line with key principles, methods and models used to describe the technological future state. He/She takes care of the IT landscape lifecycle and supports the formation of constraints, standards and guiding principles necessary to define and govern the required evolution.

The Solution Architect, supports Design and Architecture of comprehensive IT solutions while ensuring consistency to requirements agreed with customers. He/She enables and guides the design and development of integrated solutions in complex projects while following standardized architecture principles. 

The Technical Architect, responsible for creating, iterating and maintaining the global Data landscapes. He/She ensures high quality technical system design which supports performance, at ideal operational cost under allowing operational flexibility and enabling future change. Furthermore he/she ensures security, integrity, safety and availability of all forms of data and data structures.

The IT Risk & Security Specialist, designs, monitors and validates implementation of industry leading IT security standards based on Munich Re’s risk appetite, in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. Monitor, assess and report on changes in the IT risk landscape and drive solutions for improved protection.

The Service Manager, provides an independent view on the performance of IT service delivery units. This includes monitoring of IT services, delivery and support processes, management of escalation as well as performance reporting for customers. IT Service Management also defines and implements ITIL- and operational processes, but also provides a SIAM tooling strategy as well as an integrated SIAM tool set.

The IT organisation is structured into seven towers

Munich Re IT has a global setup with management and staff spread across multiple locations. Global IT Hubs:
Munich – London – Singapore – Sydney – Toronto – US (Princeton, NYC, Hartford, Cincinnati)

Provides transparency and a single version of truth on all IT financial and performance measures. Owns overall IT strategy including strategy development, business strategy alignment and strategy implementation. Is the communication hub for all strategic IT content.

Defines and maintains a consistent, holistic and proactively managed IT architecture of Munich Re to enable new business models, cost efficient operations and sustainability of investments. Leverages from global IT architecture to drive speed / agility and reuse of patterns.

Delivers an independent and transparent view on the performance of IT business service delivery. This includes monitoring of services, delivery and support processes, escalation and task force handling and customer performance reporting.

Delivers stable operational services in a cost effective and adequate manner for applications and IT platforms including onsite IT and sourcing management. Clear focus on continuous service delivery optimization, standardization and automation.

Delivers business value through the management of traditional IT products including execution of change projects outside of the digital innovation (Business Technology) space. Owns the key relationships across business domains representing all IT service functions.

Delivers a positive ROI on Munich RE’s digitalization and digital innovation portfolio. This will be achieved through the management of the full innovation project lifecycle from ideation to commercialisation and operation for new revenue streams or the full project lifecycle including benefit realisation for digitisation of the existing business.

Defines, monitors and ensures implementation of global IT security standards based on Munich Re’s risk appetite. Monitors, assesses and reports on changes in the IT risk landscape.
