Stephen Morris joined HSB UK and Ireland in January 2008 and has been in the role of Underwriting Director since January 2017, having been promoted from the role of Chief Underwriting Officer (a role he held from April 2015).

Stephen leads HSB's underwriting strategy to support business development objectives to grow core products and expand markets. In addition, Stephen is responsible for building HSB’s underwriting talent and risk engineering capabilities as well as enhancing underwriting guidelines and compliance standards. Prior to his Chief Underwriting Officer role, Stephen was HSB's Underwriting Manager for Power and Energy.

Prior to joining HSB, Stephen has held underwriting roles at RSA, Gerling, Eagle Star and at Cornhill Insurance; the latter being where his underwriting career began in 1982.

Stephen is a Chartered Insurer and is also ACII-qualified.
