    For decades, we have protected equipment from traditional risks such as power surges, short circuits, centrifugal force, boiler overheating or cracking, and other equipment breakdown accidents that are not covered under standard property insurance.

    But that is not all we cover. HSB first introduced a second cause of loss to our policy with coverage for electronic circuitry impairments.

    Protecting equipment against breakdown must encompass protecting against damage caused by cyberattacks. HSB TechAdvantage Equipment Breakdown coverage does not exclude direct physical damage to equipment as a result of a cyber event.
