On the eve of the World Cup: Munich Re in Africa

The first FIFA World Cup ever held on African soil begins in just a few days. Many of the risks are insured by Munich Re: match cancellation, construction and renovation of stadiums, airports, roads and Africa’s first high-speed rail link, the Gautrain.

Munich Re has been represented in the host country for more than 40 years. It is South Africa’s leading reinsurer, earning premium income of €331m. With 200 employees based in central and southern Africa and the islands of the southwestern Indian Ocean, it offers clients the complete range of services, from tailored risk-transfer solutions to professional loss assessments.
