Keith Sonnier gained international renown with his light sculptures and installations. From solitary light sculptures, his work evolved into large-scale permanent space and light installations, such as the one-kilometre-long "Lichtweg" at Munich Airport.

In the light installation, "Verbindung RotBlauGelb", filigree neon tubes bathe the bifurcated space of a Munich Re underground passageway in intense colour. Here Sonnier selected neon tubes in the three primary colours that he arranged in bands of light on the ceiling. Impressive light spaces with a multitude of colour hues have thus been created. They can be physically experienced by anyone passing through.
