Born 1960 in Bonn, Germany
Lives and works in Düsseldorf

Wandzeichnungen, 2003

Acrylic on chalk ground
approx. 1,300 m²

Martin Schwenk mixes his colours on site and, with flowing brush strokes, paints vegetal forms reminiscent of plants, trees or leaves directly onto the wall. Some areas are overgrown with dense foliage. Then again, graceful stalks with fine leaves or round buds unflinchingly and yet gracefully wind their way through space.

Schwenk covered more than 1,000 m2 of wall surface at Münchner Tor with linear floral forms: thin branches, floating flowers, dancing leaves. Alternating between density and transparency, the plants seem to spread into space, to virtually grow.
