An image incidentally captured allows the viewer a different take on a familiar scene and an opportunity to reflect on it anew. The photographs of Margarete Jakschik seize such moments. They show existing, but also staged situations: a house, a wall, textile patterns, a cat, water, a landscape. Margaret Jakschik explores seemingly mundane things of our world through the lens of her camera. She always approaches her subject with respect, maintains distance, displays sensitivity to fleeting nuances.

Margarete Jakschik studied photography in the class of Thomas Ruff at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf until 2005.
