Katharina Grosse is a major representative of contemporary painting. In her works, she concentrates on the effect of paint, which she applies to a surface with a spray gun. The technique remains visible in the abstraction of the works. Different colours run together. The drops and paint speckles formed breach other colour fields.

In spite of the stark abstraction and reduction, the impression of space remains. The white canvas appears to split open, showing a clearly defined gap in which the different perspectives of red, green, blue and yellow exist alongside each other as equals. The colours develop an explosive force that ignites a sheer rush of perception, as if physical forces were at work here.
