Jorinde Voigt's medium is drawing, her impressions and thoughts being directly transmitted onto paper. Her intention, however, is not to mirror reality, but rather to grasp and analyse it. Complex processes, experiences or natural phenomena are broken down and translated into an abstract sign system with its own rules and codes, creating large-scale, graphic works consisting of lines, symbols and colour.

"Auf der Fähre" is based on a study of the movement of water. Lines and marks show motion, the passage of time and rotation. The brightly coloured areas correspond to reflections, captured with pastels, of the figure of the artist looking out over water.
