Folded Spirits (Tracks #22), 2012

Oil on canvas
140 x 115 cm

Jürgen Partenheimer often records his impressions and thoughts in his artist's diaries during his visits abroad. With pen, brush, and the medium of language, he attempts to approach what is foreign, unknown.

In 2011, he spent three months in Johannesburg as a guest of the Nirox Foundation. During this time created his "Südafrikanisches Tagebuch" of more than 50 works on paper. The large canvas work "Folded Spirits (Track # 22)" from 2012 is closely related to this. With bewitching lightness, the lanceolate structures, resembling leaves or wings of dragonflies, seem to float through space. But they do not fly freely; they are firmly bound at a single point by a thin strand, which at the same time acts as an inner support to preserve the stability of the dynamic formation.
