Frank Stürmer photographs situations. They are situations from everyday life which he often encounters during his meanderings. They appear at first glance to be both inconsequential and banal. But in Stürmer's works, it is less the motif than the moment that captivates the eye of the beholder. That moment – seized with fine perception – is always just a fleeting instant of a story whose beginning and end are uncertain.

During his wanderings through cities of the world, Stürmer captures architecture and people with his camera, the rear view that the artist deliberately chooses is reminiscent of the endings of many films. However, it is not the time of farewell that interests him, but rather people and how they move in the context of the big city. Stürmer's images with people and photographs of walls and façades are not anonymous street scenes. They show a portrait of the city through the artist's subjective view.
