Photography is the basis for Ebbe Stub Wittrup's work, which covers a broad range between film, sculpture and installation. The artist discovered the original photographs on which the "Presumed Reality" series is based at a flea market. The countless photographs from the 1950s show mountaineers, weekend tourists and roped climbers. With his pale colour scheme, Stub Wittrup preserves the aura of motifs from the past. He plays with sharpness and blurring, allowing some contours to emerge and be accentuated, and others to blend in with the background. The boundaries between documentary presentation and artistic editing also blur.
