Images make it possible to visually capture moments, and Darren Almond also uses painting to address the concept of time. He seems to have borrowed this basic principle from his work, "Perfect Time". In "Black Chance", digits also appear, horizontally split, that do not fit together properly on the twelve canvases. The title suggests that the moment of the arrangement is purely coincidental and could have "happened" in another combination.
