Daniel Robert Hunziker is interested in the mundane and its beauty, which for him lies in the detail. Constantly searching for correlations in what Hunziker describes as the "seemingly banal", the artist relies on his probing eye in his search for interesting shapes, surfaces, and proportions.

For Hunziker, the catalyst for the creation of an artwork is usually what is seen or found in the artist's environment by chance. For example, Dust jackets of books. Hunziker's book jacket inlays, of which merely the titles refer to the book world, are aesthetic reflections on the relationship between form and colour, surface and space. Space? Only in details of Hunziker's works and at second glance does the space that plays a central role as illusion in his art reveal itself physically. In millimetre-wide bands, space, a visible image carrier, encloses the coloured paper surfaces that the artist has neatly inlaid next to each other.
