Four small walks from and to Hohenkammer, 2008

The work of Hamish Fulton revolves around a single subject: nature and how man experiences nature. For more than 30 years, the artist has been taking extended walks on foot on all five continents of the world. He calls himself the "walking artist". He processes the experiences from these walks in his works, awakening the experience of nature in each individual viewer and unfolding a universe of associations.

In July 2008, Fulton explored all four points of the compass around Schloss Hohenkammer for Munich Re. During his wanderings through the countryside, he discovered deceleration as a necessary counterbalance to the hectic pace of everyday life.
