Munich Re Launches More Enhancements to its EDGE Underwriting Manual

Toronto, November 7, 2012 – Munich Re Canada (Life) announced this week more key updates to its EDGE underwriting manual relating to scuba diving and foreign travel. These enhancements are applicable to the Life, Critical Illness and Disability Insurance underwriting manuals.

The manual now provides a more extensive description and rating grid for scuba diving. “This enhancement will assist underwriters in making informed assessments for applicants who engage in activities beyond occasional scuba diving while vacationing,” says Joan Tolan, Vice President, Underwriting, North America (Life), Munich Re.

“With many applicants travelling for pleasure or business, the need to provide standard rates wherever possible is growing”. Changes have been made to the EDGE foreign travel section, allowing more favourable offers for a number of countries.

Changes to the EDGE Life, Critical Illness and Disability Insurance underwriting manuals are available on November 5, 2012.
