Natural catastrophes 2014

For twenty years now, the geoscientists at Munich Re have compiled a detailed review of the previous year's natural catastrophes. Selected catastrophe portraits and background analyses describe the current risk situation, trends and market developments from the insurance industry's perspective. Figures from the NatCatSERVICE database indicate the severity of the events in humanitarian and financial terms.

Current Issue

Despite a relatively moderate year in terms of losses, the NatCatSERVICE again registered almost 1,000 catastrophe events last year.
