From 2003 to mid-March 2007, a total of 278 cases of people with bird flu were reported to the World Health Organization. The focus shifted from Vietnam and Thailand to Indonesia and Egypt.
1 Two asymptomatic cases in Vietnam were excluded.
2 Nine cases in Egypt, eight cases in Indonesia, one case in Iraq, and one case in Nigeria without reported dates of onset were excluded.
3 Dates of onset for Turkey are based on reporting dates.
