Scenario 2: Hailstorm

Following a severe hailstorm two claims notifications are submitted, each for amounts in excess of €5,000. In both cases the roofs are damaged to such a degree that they have to be replaced – the one in Damstraat, the other in Palmstraat.

The claims specialist can promptly indemnify the first claim – our CatLoss Estimation Service shows that Damstraat is located in the centre of the hailstorm. The second claim raises questions: Palmstraat is located a significant distance away from the area affected by the hailstorm.

A loss adjuster is sent to the location and finds that only a very small portion of the loss can have been caused by the hailstorm. Incidentally, with state-of-the-art technology the geographical areas of hailstorms can be shown with greater exactitude than wind field data.
