Large losses in Germany’s food industry (1987–2006)

From 1987 to 2006, large losses from fi re and FBI in the German food industry amounted to about €1.6bn. As the above chart shows, annual claims expenditure exceeded the €100m threshold in 1988, 1993, 1999, and 2006. The record loss year of 2006 leads the fi eld with claims expenditure of €256m.
