Burj Dubai - Tower of Dubai

A building is growing in the United Arab Emirates that could easily have emerged from the Arabian Nights: the Burj Dubai (Tower of Dubai) – currently the tallest building in the world. The construction work is being carried out with the support of Munich Re. Erecting such a structure entails extraordinary risks. Besides the need to avert property damage, it is a question of prestige.

Burj Dubai was originally intended to reach a height of 705 m, but on account of global competition in the construction of high-rise projects it has since been raised to 815 m. And it could well turn out to be even higher.

The erection of such a huge building is a real challenge for CAR insurers: location, design, natural hazards, geology, foundations, the growing structure – everything must be assessed professionally in order to identify not only the typical but also the particular construction risks involved and to ensure that risk management concepts can be implemented.
