Curriculum vitae
Georg Daschner was born in Munich in 1949.
He began his chartered insurance traineeship with Munich Re in 1965, following which he worked as an underwriter in the Regional Department: Latin America, Spain, Portugal and completed periods of work experience in Argentina and Venezuela.
In 1977, Georg Daschner was appointed initially deputy head and then head of Munich Re’s business unit in Caracas. During that time he was to a great extent instrumental in developing the company’s reinsurance business in South America and in establishing Munich Re in the newly opened Chilean and Peruvian markets. On returning to Munich in 1988 he became head of the Latin America Market Department. His duties involved coordinating and developing business in the region together with management of the five Latin American business units. In 1996 Georg Daschner helped set up and became head of the new Divisional Unit: Latin America, the first to take the form of a profit centre. In 2000 Georg Daschner was put in charge of the business unit in Madrid.
In 2001 this unit was made a branch with profit responsibility for business in Spain and Portugal. He remained in this position until appointed to the Board of Management in 2003. In his capacity as Board member, he is responsible for Europe and Latin America Division.
He is married and has two children.
